SCRIPTS: The Queen And The Bodyguard - After The Wedding

SCENE: Buckingham Palace. Saturday morning. The day after Kate and William’s marriage.

The Bodyguard is walking down a hallway with a concerned look on his face. He is apparently searching for something. As he approaches a corner, a little girl comes running round it and bumps into him.

HENRIETTA: Sorry mister, in a hurry. Looking for Gav.
Henrietta runs off and then another gentleman comes around the corner.

THE BODYGUARD: Is she yours? Cute kid. She sure seemed in a hurry.

SIR KLAUS: Sir Klaus' niece actually, she’s looking for someone. Sir Klaus doesn't suppose you’ve seen Prince Gavin around? Little Henrietta’s always... wanted to meet him.

THE BODYGUARD: I’m afraid I haven’t Sir. Did you enjoy the wedding yesterday though?

SIR KLAUS: It was a fine event you put on, Young William looked very handsome indeed, but Sir Klaus is afraid he can’t stand around talking. Sir Klaus should go find Henrietta. Good day to you.
Sir Klaus leaves and The Bodyguard heads around the corner.

THE BODYGUARD: (seems like a nice fellow)
He approaches a door and knocks on it.

THE BODYGUARD: Ma’am, are you in there?
Some noises emanate from within the room.

THE BODYGUARD: Ma’am, I can hear you. The guests are getting concerned. You’ve not shown yourself since last night and young Jame’s gone missing. We though he left with Harry late last night but he hasn’t seen him.
He waits a moment.

THE BODYGUARD: Ma’am?

THE QUEEN [SOBBING]: I’m sorry, it’s just all too emotional. It all went wrong.

THE BODYGUARD: But ma’am, it went perfectly yesterday. It was a fantastic day. Why are you crying?

THE QUEEN: It shouldn’t have happened like that.

THE BODYGUARD: They looked beautiful, it went without a hitch.

THE QUEEN: I’m not talking about that.

THE BODYGUARD: It’s not this commoner coming into the Royal family thing again is it?

THE QUEEN: What? You’re talking about the wedding? Who cares about that?

THE BODYGUARD: Ma’am... I.. then what are you talking about?

THE QUEEN: The Endeavor launch. There was an engine failure.

THE BODYGUARD: ... but ma’am, it was only a minor engine problem and it has been rescheduled.

THE QUEEN: But It was to be the perfect end to one’s day. It won’t be the same on Monday.

THE BODYGUARD: Can’t you just be happy for William and Kate?

THE QUEEN: Do not presume to tell me what one should feel.
THE BODYGUARD: Sorry ma’am, it’s just that Phillip was getting concerned and we need to find Kate’s brother.

THE QUEEN: Oh, we don’t need to concern one selves with such a thing. And where was Bubbles yesterday? I thought he’d have been here.

THE BODYGUARD: Ma’am, the Middleton’s may be common folk, but they’re now a part of the family. We should show some concern. As for Bubbles, surely you remember he’s still lost in space?

THE QUEEN: Such a shame, I like Bubbles. Handsome little fellow.

THE BODYGUARD: Still ma’am, we need to focus on James right now, regardless of whether or not you have problems with the Middletons now being in the Royals....
The  Bodyguard hears some strange noises coming from inside the room.

THE BODYGUARD:...Ma’am, is everything okay in there? I’m coming in.
The Bodyguard opens the door and sees the Queen in bed with a gentleman.

JAMES MIDDLETON: ....um, hi.

THE BODYGUARD: ...Well, I can clearly see you don’t have a problem with the Middletons coming into the Royals.
